The A77 is a popular road used by
tourists travelling to Ayrshire which is renowned for its scenic beauty
and historical interest.
Golf enthusiasts use the route to access the
famous courses at Turnberrry and Troon. The A77 can also be busy
with football fans and other tourists travelling from Northern Ireland
via the ferry terminal at Stranraer as well as caravanners travelling to
many of the popular sites dotted along the length of the road.
Prestwick Airport is located just off the A77 also and the increase in
low fares airlines and flights has seen a marked increase in traffic
utilising the A77 to get to the airport.
